Wild-n-Fit: Something New for a Change

Today was my first Wild-n-Fit class at South Island CrossFit.  I’m offering it free for at least October to see who might be interested and what people are wanting from a program called “Wild-n-Fit”.  I had three people come, one who attends my EarthFit Bootcamp on Mondays and Wednesdays, and a mother and daughter. Whidbey Island is experiencing a rare storm that kept us from truly experiencing the great outdoor workout, but I felt I compensated pretty well with a “Musical Benches” workout at the box. I wanted to show participants that you can spruce up any workout, no matter where you are, and you can use just about anything around you to your advantage while exercising, even park benches. I liked the small turnout, but I’m hoping the more I do these, the better at instructing participants and coaching participants I’ll get.  I really do feel, though, that it’s going to be a loooooong journey….

I’m not counting Wild-n-Fit as part of my exercise right now, because I really didn’t get my sweat on today.  Maybe next week. We did do our Wendler workout in the afternoon, though:
Strict Press- Week 1 (5, 5, 5+), then
10 minute EMOM of 5 negative pull-ups
Tabata- Crossovers
Decline push-ups
Squat Jacks
Carousel Lunges

For dinner tonight, I made my first pumpkin recipe for the season- Pumpkin Curry.  I did not make this particular one paleo, but it would have been feasible. I really wanted to use up some tofu that I had in the fridge, but I easily could substitute chicken or even shrimp.  It was actually really good, even though it’s only the second or third time I’ve tried making it. You can find the recipe here on my blog post The Most Wonderful Time of the Year: Part 1.

ZooFit Tip- Eat in season- it actually tastes better, and may save you some moola in the process.  The storm that hit Whidbey blew over some apple trees, with apples still on them.  Since it’s apple season, we are right now ROLLING in apples! Luckily Chris LOVES apples for snacks, and I love using them for dozens of recipes.  Happy Eating!
