It’s a common debate among fitness enthusiasts. Running or walking. Which is actually “better”?
I have to admit, I am beginning to feel a little like a broken record. Last year at this time, we were concerned about the Amazon rainforest fires. In January, we were hit again with the tragedy unfolding in Australia and the wildfires devastating the country. And now, with wildfires devastating the state of California and poor air quality crossing international lines, we find ourselves asking, one more time, “What can I do about the wildfires?”.
One of the best decisions I made in my life was in 2019 to join the Optimize Coach program. Since then, I’ve learned how to optimize my life and my health. But most importantly, I’ve learned how to optimize my impact on the planet.
Today is one of those rare days where I get to mash together several of my geeky passions- animals, fandoms, conserving resources, and fitness. It’s National Wildlife Day, so I decided to celebrate with a fandom known for its…wildlife? Sorta. Rare and unusual animals to say the least. Today we’re celebrating Fandom Fitness Friday with a special Pokemon workout.
Today was an incredible day. I was able to visit what I consider my sacred space twice in one week. And the experience was just as amazing as last time, and the time before that, and the time before that. I refer to this spot as my sacred space because it calls out to me, and I feel more connected while I am there, which is a pillar of ZooFit. And it completes my positive feedback loop for living green and training positive.
What is the most endangered marine mammal in the world? It’s the adorable vaquita porpoise, with a depressingly low population of as few as 10 individuals. If any animal needs a day for raising awareness, it’s the vaquita. Luckily, today is International Save the Vaquita Day. And I wanted to share a super fast ZooFit awareness challenge to honor these “pandas of the sea.”
Today is Arbor Day, a day to truly celebrate trees and all the wonderful gifts they bestow on our lives. And in true ZooFit fashion, I developed a wonderful (quick) Arbor Day fitness challenge to honor trees and bring awareness to how much they need us.
One of the toughest foods for me to stay away from is cheese. It’s delicious, let’s all just agree on that. But it’s not always the best choice for our health, for animal welfare, or the planet.
As I walked home last week with PLASTIC grocery bags, I reminded myself of a few things.
